Gary Cheshire – First Mate & Seasoned Mariner

Background: Originally from Australia, Gary Cheshire brings over 30 years of marine industry experience to the team. He started his career in the prestigious America’s Cup scene and has since worked on a wide variety of boats, making transatlantic and transpacific crossings and logging countless miles at sea.

Experience: This is Gary’s second world tour aboard Che, and he’s been part of the current ownership for three years. With a steady and reliable presence, he’s become an essential part of the crew and a trusted right hand to the captain.

Role & Skills: As the first mate, Gary takes on a wide range of responsibilities, especially during maintenance periods. He’s hands-on with guest excursions, often lending a hand in the galley, and working closely with the rest of the crew—Santi, Marius, and of course, the captain. Having known the family for about 25 years, Gary is more than just a crew member—he’s like family.
